Social Cooperative Poznanianka gives employment to people threatened by eviction:working on this cooperative, they earn money for living, paying the rental debt to the city, avoiding losing their home
Social Purpose:
The initiative tackle the problem of unemployment, social exclusion and lack of resources among the disadvantaged part of society. It is important to focus on those challenges as they create vicious circle and may lead to other, even more serious social issues.
Social Impact:
The social impact of the project involves diminishing the number of unemployed persons among the disadvantaged members of the society, strengthening their self-esteem and entrepreneurial skills as well as preventing further intensification of their social exclusion and its effects. The stakeholders of the social cooperative Poznanianka are in constant contact with the Municipal Premises Agency (Zarząd Komunalnych Zasobów Lokalowych), who is collecting the rental debt from cooperatives’ employees, in order to check the progress in getting out of it. Cooperative board is controlling each month the progress made by each employee as it comes to their social and financial situation. At the end of the project (December 2014), in the frame of which the social cooperative was set up, the evaluation of all the outlined goals will be launched.
Innovative Character:
The project is innovative because it proposes a practical solution to a social issue by giving the vulnerable social group a tool to deal themselves with their financial and social problems. For the first time a long-term social project was proposed instead of shortsighted financial measures.
