Social Purpose:
Unlimited Meanwhile was founded by Meanwhile Space directors and Afra Quintanas to scale Meanwhile uses benefits internationally and through technology. Unlimited Meanwhile is Meanwhile Space sister’s company. Meanwhile Space CIC has pioneered the concept of Meanwhile uses offline, as the temporary use of empty spaces for community benefit, since 2009 and is the social enterprise leading the UK on Meanwhile uses. Unlimited Meanwhile works to revitalise cities through activating vacant property for community benefit and entrepreneurs. We offer bespoke consultancy services to initiate meanwhile projects abroad and around the UK and we also operate through Cu-Cu platform which is launched initially in the UK. Through Unlimited Meanwhile Consultancy and Cu-Cu platform, we intend to fully disrupt the property industry, boost city revitalisation at a human scale and increase employability. Our vision is that through our simple and sleek platform, no vacant space need to exist anywhere. Cu-Cu is a platform that facilitates affordable access to underused commercial property to enable innovation and high-street revitalisation: 1. Disrupting the commercial property industry. Technology enables to scale the capacity that is already there but has not yet been accessed to its full potential. 2. The opportunity to bring innovative new uses. Low-risk and visible space is a mechanism to foster innovative ideas and identify new and potentially sustainable uses for ground level spaces. 3. Preventing decline. This exchange covers costs to keep a property empty, increases value and security through an active occupation and prevents degradation and vandalism for the space and for the area were we are operating. 4. Increasing skills and employability. Cu-Cu increases employability not just for temporary users but also for others involved in the processes 5. Involve excluded individuals in innovation. The meanwhile use concept and the sharing economy provide practical opportunities for individuals and start up usually excluded to access visible space to innovate, experiment and develop their ventures. 6. High street revitalisation. Innovative business ideas and models can be identified during the experimental and low-cost period, which brings long-term benefits for the high street, local communities & economic development.
